TV ads in Norway for gambling being filtered
If you were to go back a few years and look at the Norwegian online casino gaming scene, it was like a different world. Today, though, many companies are finding that increased regulation is playing some role in inhibiting and stopping their ability to keep advertising. For example, regulation for casino sites in Norway are being discussed that would mean that gambling-related TV ads would be filtered out.
This is part of the new Broadcasting Act that is being discussed. This will see overseas gambling companies banned from being able to advertise on Norwegian domestic TV sets. This has been coming for some time and has been pushed by the Minister of Culture and Gender Equality, Abid Q. Raja.
These changes are being put in place as the government wants to fight back against the illegal gambling marketplace that has grown so strongly. It’s become hard to keep any kind of focus and enforcement on the industry. Therefore, significant changes are being thought about in a bid to try and bring an end to this problem.
With many new casino sites in Norway not opening their doors due to the more hostile environment than before, though, regulation is proving contentious. While many are happy at the reduced amount of companies from abroad getting a cut of the action, others are less impressed by the dilution of their available selection.
So, for gamers in Norway, expect less TV ads for gambling in the future.
