Norway considering new legislation to combat problem gambling

As one of the most responsible countries in Europe, it’s no surprise that Norway seems to take a more active role in policing gambling than other European nations. The country has one of the highest satisfaction ratings for its citizens in the world, and a large part of that comes from its strict and mature legislation on many topics – including online casino gaming

While any new casino sites opening up in Norway need to get permission from the government to take part in the Norwegian market, many companies do pop up from time to time. However, one issue that has cropped up at the moment is the need for even more gambling legislation amid a worrying rise of problem gambling across the country.

Recent reports from the country have shown that the current three major gambling mandates are not doing enough to protect people. This will bring all of the gambling laws and regulation in the country under one primary framework, which experts believe should provide a steadier ground to work from.

Proposed changes are expected to come in and try to get rid of an inefficiency in the governance of the industry. The hope is that with an even more robust system that the growth in problem gambling, exasperated during COVID-19, could be slowed down over time.

Norway has long prided itself on being a country that takes the risk of online casino gaming seriously. Now, further laws prove how serious they are.
