Credit Cards in New Zealand Declined for Online Gambling

For many years now, the NZ casinos that have been so commonly used by Kiwi gamers have been accepting credit cards. That, though, is about to change. There has been a new jurisdiction decision by the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs who have decreed that the access to credit cards will be changing. Credit cards are being cancelled and declined across New Zealand due to their use for online gambling.

This has come ahead of the release of SKYCITY Entertainment Group’s new release. Despite being one of the most exciting online casinos NZ gamers have had to pick from in some time, it would appear that resistance to it already is becoming quite stern. This will mean that the previously state-run lottery and TAB system for sports betting will come under increasing scrutiny and desire for competition – something that the government likely wants to avoid.

Given that the SKYCITY release will be the first-ever private online gambling platform, the government is already moving to try and put in place some kind of system to stop gamers from getting involved using credit cards. This means that the government will likely push on with their plans to find solutions to stop gamers using a casino online by directly using their credit card.
