Norway works with Facebook to bring down various online gambling pages
As one of the most prestigious but strict nations for online casino gaming in Europe, Norway is a leader within the European sphere. With their tough but fair laws on online casino gaming, they’ve pushed for numerous changes to take place over the years that have occurred. However, one thing that makes the online casino industry such a strong place is its ability to advertise online – and now Norway wants to crack down on that, too.
The Norwegian gambling regulator has worked alongside Facebook to start pulling down online gambling pages from the social media giant. This is because the companies were caught out to be promoting their offers to gamers in Norway without having state permission to do so.
This means that the regulator, the Lotteritilsynet, has decided to bring down as many as 36 online gambling pages via Facebook. This included some pretty big names such as Coolbet’s Vennepoker and Cherry AB’s ComeOn group. This is a very interesting part of the process, though, as Norway looks to set itself as the European leader when it comes to set very strict and serious regulatory rules for the industry.
This is expected to continue for some time, with Norway looking to work alongside Facebook and other social media platforms to help keep Norwegian gamers only playing on the platforms that the government has given their OK to. Expect more bans and movement to come in the near future.
