Mr Green takes new stance on British online casino promotion

Mr Green, one of the largest iGaming operators in Europe, has been at loggerheads with the UK gaming scene for some time. However, a new report that has come out shows that the Mr Green group has moved to try and stop affiliates in their team promoting to a UK audience. Despite once holding one of the strongest casino slots operations ni the country, Mr Green no longer operates within the UK sphere.

As such, they have asked all of their affiliates via an ‘urgent request’ to bring an end to their advertising to a UK audience. There was been communications and advertisements targeting UK players, such a pop-up banners, social media posts, hyperlinks, and various other forms of marketing materials. The reasons given for this need to stop advertising in the UK was simply given as ‘changes in compliance;.

Despite the fact that Mr Green is a licensed regulated company in the UK (as well as Malta, Ireland, and parts of Scandinavia), it’s looking to avoid targeting the UK audience via its affiliates. The parent company of Mr Green was bought up by William Hill in 2018 as part of a deal many assumed was to help William Hill to target a European Union audience after the UK left the EU.

They have asked that for now all UK-facing casino advertisements should be brought down and removed. Apparently, though, it’s still OK for them to promote their sportsbook betting products.
