Mr Green pays £3m UK penalty

As one of the most important parts of the William Hill group, Mr. Green is seen as a major part of the UK gaming scene. Having helped inspire many new casino sites with its innovative and easy to use style, Mr. Green has long been viewed as a key part of this industry. However, it’s also a company that has been in its fair share of trouble over the last few years with the UK Gambling Commission.

Their various problems with the UKGC has recently led to a whopping £3m fine being imposed upon them. It’s because the company did not put in strong enough procedure to try and make sure that customers were using safe, legitimate financial sources. They also failed to freeze the account of a player who won £50,000 in winnings,  before gambling it all away.

That same player then proceeded to deposit thousands of pounds more. Mr. Green also accepted a decade-old document that showed a £176,000 payout was not satisfactory for a player who had put in around £1m to the company.

Mr. Green is one of the many companies to have faced fines from the UKGC. This comes as part of a £20m series of fines that have been handed out by the UKGC since 2018. This is expected to continue for the long-term, as more companies are put in a position of either cleaning up their act or being forced to consider their long-term options.
