Norway accepts EGBA Code of Conduct

Having been one of the leading lights in the European online casino gaming scene, Norway has shown how to manage regulation the right way. That’s why so casino gamers have decided to try out the various new sites which are regulated in Norway; to get Norwegian regulation you need to pretty spectacular. The bar might set to be raised further, though, as Norway’s Norsk Bransjeforening for Onlinespill (NBO) has accepted and endorsed the new European Gaming and Betting Association’s (EGBA) Code of Conduct for online casino gaming.

This will see even stricter terms brought int when looking at factors such as advertising for online gambling. This makes the NBO the fourth national gambling association to take up this new Code of Conduct, which is now promoting the code to its various members and encouraging them to get signed up and take part.

The Secretary-General of the EGBA, Maarten Haijer, said: “Norway is one of the few remaining European countries which maintain an exclusive state-owned gambling monopoly and its approach to regulating gambling needs a fundamental rethink. When this happens, companies should be ready to enter the market in a responsible and sustainable way, and NBO’s commitment to responsible advertising is an important step to ensuring this.

“The responsible advertising code is part of EGBA’s commitment to raise standards and make gambling even safer and we urge other online gambling associations and companies to join us to make this a reality.”

Expect more nations to join in the near future.
